Fairservis, Walter A. (1925-)
Archeologist. An American historian and archaeologist, associate of the department of anthropology at the American Museum of Natural History (New York), and writer for archaeological journals. Specializing in the archaeology of South Asia and the Near and Middle East, he has conducted field research in northern Africa, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and India. Fairservis is the author of a series of books on the origins of the Oriental civilization, the history and culture of Egypt and Nubia, and the archaeology of eastern Iran, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. He wrote a definitive history of ancient India.
