Inayatullah, Attiya (1936-)
Statesperson. Attiya Inayatullah is a veteran member of Pakistan's Central Legislature. In recognition of her prominence as a social worker, she was appointed Adviser (1981-85) to the President of Pakistan for population welfare and women's affairs. In 1985, she was made minister of state in the same Ministry from 1985 to 1986. During 2000~2, she was appointed Minister for Women's Development, Social Welfare and Special Education. From 1982 to 2000 she attended numerous international conferences dealing with family planning, status of women, child survival and environmental issues. To honour her contribution, the UNESCO elected her chairperson for 1994-95; and since 1999 she has been a member of UNESCO's Executive Board. She has received numerous awards from Pakistani and international organizations including the Rotary International, the United Nations and Human Rights Society of Pakistan.
