Attock is a district in the Rawalpindi division and the city is located on a historical crossing point of the *Indus.
The Shahi Road and later the Grand Trunk Road used this crossing. There is also a rail bridge here used by the Islamabad-Peshawar track. The main sightseeing attraction is the fort built by Mughal Emperor Akbar, an imposing monument of *Mughal architecture.
