The Chagai Hills are an east-west montain range lying aero s the north side of the *Balochistan Plateau. The range marks part of the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan, close to the western tip of Balochistan province. The route from Quetta to Iran runs to the sough of the range. There are several inactive or dormant and extinct volcanoes in the area, the largest of which is *Koh-i-Sultan. Its height is 2,332 metres. It holds deposits of high-quality sulphur.
