help with windows ethernet? again.?

Postby answeringyou on Thu Sep 25, 2008 3:54 pm

I think i deleted my question when i asked this a day ago, so i'm posting it again in case I did. have windows vista. Every so often a box will pop up reading, "Windows needs to install drive software for your ethernet controller". then you can either click "remind me later" or "install software". i clicked the install software option and then it tells me to insert ethernet disk. Can someone please explain all of this. what is windows ethernet? why is my computer saying this? if i need this how do i get it? etc etc. please give me as much info about this as possible. thank youI got an answer when i asked this before and someone replied saying to look in the control panel for the name of the ethernet adapter. and that windows vista is looking for a driver.----additonal info---my computer was purchased in november of 2007. i have everything it came with. There is 1 cd that it came with, it is titled "Recovery and Applications/ Drivers" is that it? And if I look in the control Panel for the name of the ethernet adapter, where do I go from there? I'm computer illiterate!
