Baxter, Craig
Historian. As an officer of the Foreign Service of the United States from 1956 to 1980, he was posted in Bombay (1958-60), New Delhi (1961-64), Lahore (1965-68) and Dhaka (1976-78), and served in Washington on South Asian affairs, 1968-7l.
Baxter is editor and contributor to Zia's Pakistan:
Politics and Stability in a Frontline State (Lahore, 1985) and with Syed Razi Wa ti Pakistan: Authoritarianism in the 1980s (Lahore: 1991). He is the co-author with Shahid Javed Burki of 'Pakistan Under the Military:
Eleven Years of Ziaul Haq' (Lahore: 1991). He is also the co-author with Yogendra K. Malik, Charles H. Kennedy, and Robert C. Oberst of Government and Politics in South Asia, now in its third edition (Boulder Co: 1993).
