The 'F' Chord is a really, really tough chord to do. Don't worry, I had trouble with it even 3 months after I started. Now, if you don't know the chord formation, look it up. That's better then what I could teach you. The best advice I can give you is to practice, practice, practice!

Forget the barre chord version that the two guys above described. If you're just a beginner, barre chords are over your head, at least for now. Here is the simplest form that is good for a beginner.Index finger on the first fret, first AND second string.Middle finger on the second fret, third string.Ring finger on the third fret, fourth string.Only strum the strings that you have fingered. Not the two fattest strings. It's probably the toughest chord for a beginner to finger. I actually gave up playing guitar for about a year when I first started because I got so frustrated with it. What helped me was finding a song that I wanted to play that had an F chord in it. That gave me the motivation to practice and perfect the F. For me the song was "Big Me" by the Foo Fighters. Good Luck.
