I have a question about RAM? ?

Postby Smile on Mon Sep 15, 2008 4:54 am

I have a Windows XP desktop (Intel). It has 420 MB of RAM right now, which makes it pretty slow. My laptop has Windows Vista (Fujitsu). It has 1GB of RAM. And now I heard that it's good to have 1GB of RAM for a Windows XP and 2GB for Vista. So my question is this: would it be possible for me to simply buy a 2GB RAM, put it in my laptop, and use the 1GB RAM from it to put in my Windows XP desktop?I'm kind of a noob, please help me!

You can buy RAM for the laptop, but it would be incompatible with the desktop because laptops and desktops use different types of RAM, it would actually not physically fit into the RAM slot on the desktop. You'd have to buy RAM for the laptop and the desktop. 1GB of desktop RAM is really cheap though, so no worries.

No. Desktop and Laptop ram is different sizes and will not fit in both.Luckily RAM is costing less and less now a days. If you need to find some good ram for your PCs you can go to newegg.http://www.newegg.com/
