Immigrating to Canada from the US ?

Postby AmyL on Tue Jun 24, 2008 5:17 am

Does anyone know if a father-in-law can sponser his son-in-law to come to Canada? I am asking this because I would not qualify financially to sponser my soon to be husband to come to canada from the US. (I only do not qualify because I just had a baby and am not working at this time -- however I do hold both a B.A and a M.A )? Also my soon to be husband has over 30,000 saved up, would this make a difference?? Any advise would be appreciated in how we can get him Canadian residency, as we don't meet with an immigration lawyer for another month. Thanks

When you are sponsoring your spouse only, you don't need to prove income. You can find that info at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/3900E2.asp near the middle of the page.
