Is it hard to learn to the guitar if it's an electric?

Postby Daniela on Mon Sep 15, 2008 4:40 am

A few months ago I got an electric guitar because I really wanted to learn to play. I still haven't tried practicing because my friend says it's hard to learn if it's not tuned. I got it tuned a few days ago and I'm preparing myself to play, but I have a few questions. Is it harder to learn to play with an electric?Do I need a teacher to teach me how to play, or can I learn myself with buying lesson books and things like that?

It's the same as playing an acoustic unless you want to use a whammy bar too. It's harder playing by ear than it is with a book or a teacher. I got an electric about 2 years ago for Christmas and still haven't learned but one chord. But now I have a book that really tells me how to play (before my dad was trying to tell me how but he's a horrible explainer) and I think I'm going to actually sit down and learn. Good Luck

It's the same as a accoustic. You do NOT need a teacher. I taught myself to play, and heck, I'm only 12. I got my electric guitar a few months ago, and I can play one by Metallica. You can teach yourself if you practice and put your mind to it.

According to Billboard.biz, Activision Blizzard has confirmed the development of the "Guitar Hero: Van Halen" music-based game. It is scheduled for release in the second half of the year and will definitely cover the David Lee Roth era, featuring the band's greatest hits. No specific tracks were listed, but Activision said it will include music from guest bands like Queen, Weezer, Blink-182, The Offspring, Queens Of The Stone Age and others.

The biggest questions center around which band personnel will appear in the game. There's no word on whether original bassist Michael Anthony will be excluded from the game play in favor of current bass player Wolfgang Van Halen, and it's also unknown whether the game avatar of singer David Lee Roth will be joined by Sammy Hagar or even Gary Cherone.
