Bugti, Akbar Shahbaz Khan, Nawab (1926-)
Statesman. The hereditary Nawab, * sardar of the *Balochi tribe of Bugti, he graduated from Aitcheson College in Lahore and later received a degree from Oxford University. In the 1940s he was Vice-President of the Tribal Federation of *Balochistan. Bugti became Pakistan's Defence State Minister in 1958 and in 1973 became Governor of Balochistan. He was the founder and leader of the Balochistan National Alliance.
Bukhari, Ahmad Shah 'Patras' (1898-1958) Writer/Statesman. Patras Bukhari wa principal, Government College, Lahore; Director-General, AllIndia Radio; Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations and thereafter the UN Under-SecretaryGeneral for Information.
Bukhari's claim to fame rests on a slim volume of humorous essays called Patras Kai Mazameen. These contain ironically humourous situations, with subtlety brought about through his restrained but sparkling style. His reticence and formality represent high culture among all humorists of the *Urdu language and serve as a model that has never been emulated successfully.
