Atta-ur-Rehman (1942-)
Scientist/Chairman Higher Education Commission. Educated at Karachi Grammar School he topped the Cambridge Overseas School Certificate. He obtained his MSc in Organic Chemistry securing first position. He did his PhD (1968) and DSc (1987) from the University of Cambridge. Atta-ur-Rehman was appointed lecturer in the University of Karachi in 1964. In 1990 he became Director of the HE1 Institute. Dr Rehman is a UNESCO Science Laureate, Coordinator General COMSTECH, and was Pakistan's Minister of Science and Technology from 1999 to 2002.
