Aziz, Abdul, Syed (1885-1948)
Statesman. Syed Abdul Aziz was also known as Azizul-Millat to the Muslims of Bihar. He attended Patna College, Bihar National College, and was chairman of the Reception Committee for the 1938 * All-India Muslim League annual session at Patna. This was the first annual session at which Mohammad Ali *Jinnah would be hailed publicly as the *Quaid-i-Azam (Great Leader). A year later, Syed Abdul Aziz hosted an AIML Workers Conference at Darbhanga; Liaquat Ali *Khan, who presided, wrote to Jinnah saying that the people showed great enthusiasm. Syed Abdul Aziz delivered the inaugural address at the All-India Muslim Students Federation at Calcutta on 27 December 1937. He served as Minister for Law and Judiciary in the Nizam's Dominion of Hyderabad. He had been Minister for Education in Bihar between 1934 and 1937. He headed the United Muslim Party before joining the All-India Muslim League.
