I am a Canadian female (and new Muslim Alhamdulillah) and have been married to my Pakistani husband of 1.5 years. I live in Canada, and he lives in Peshawar. We initially wanted to bring him to Canada on a tourist visa, so he could meet my family, and possibly look for job prospects in hopes of finding a work visa sponsor. We applied, and after 2 weeks of waiting, we made our way to the Canadian High Commission in Islamabad to inquire about the status and to submit 2 additional photos in the application. The receptionist didn't ask the purpose of my visit, she just asked to see my Canadian passport. Me, being a Canadian citizen - was not allowed into my own embassy. I was enraged at the fact that I could not step into the embassy door to speak with anyone. I complained to the receptionist at the outdoor window. My embassy is supposed to be my safe haven, the place I can come to for assistance whether in an emergency or not. I was told that no one was allowed in. Especially with the political unrest and Operations in FATA very near to Peshawar.
We exhausted my options of lengthening my visa and managed to stay for 4.5 months. My husband's tourist visa was denied because they didn't believe he would return to Pakistan at the end of his tourist visa. I had to return to Canada (about 1 week ago). Obviously with the situation in Pakistan, my hopes are to bring my husband to Canada as soon as possible. Sponsorship takes a year or more (however we can start on it). This "Marriage Visa" that I've heard local Pakistanis talk about doesn't even exist.
What is your suggestion on how I can bring my husband here?
Do we wait for the sponsorship to go through?
Do I apply on his behalf to employers to try and get a work visa?
Any thoughts or comments appreciated.
Allah hafiz.
