What would be my best option for Immigration? Canada, England, France or elsewhere?

Postby Amersmanders on Mon Mar 24, 2008 5:47 pm

I am bilingual in French and English and am learning Spanish. I have been in a professional career for 4 years, and have a BA and a MA. I have some understanding and familiarity with Canadian history, law and culture, but I am more familiar with France and England, having spent a lot more time in England and France than Canada. I am more familiar with Canada's immigration process (I have 72 points), and have heard that it's really difficult to get into England, but don't know much about France's immigration process. Any insight here would be greatly appreciated. I would also consider other countries or commonwealths that speak English, French and/or Spanish, but I don't really like the idea of moving to a place I know little about, because my goal would be to at least have some degree of acculturation, and I don't want to be disingenuous. I have a fairly strong background in Post-Colonialism and Neo-Colonialism theory, so I don't want to be a complete cultural outsider.

Well, which would you prefer? I'm sure you could get in any of those countries because you are educated and could contribute to their workforce and their economy.

Tip: Some cities are growing in Canada very fast. They need people and good jobs are something easier to get than a few years back :)

And then after you are admitted to Canada, you MUST live in Canada for 3 years before you can apply to be a citizen. That is currently taking about 12 months to be processed, so altogether it takes you 6 years to legally become a Canadian citizen.

I think you're a traitor. My guess is you have a student loan, if you have all of these degrees. The US government invested in your education and you pay the government and all of its citizens back by wanting to leave? Give me a break. Quit whining, do your job, and get over yourself.
